How to Have a Monster Party: The Basics

Themed parties are always in style, whether it’s for a holiday, a birthday, or just because. And for all you horror lovers out there, what could be better than a party featuring all of your favorite monsters? Since the Universal Monsters don’t exactly have a mainstream following, gathering all of the merchandise you need for a party can be difficult. Unless it’s Halloween time, Wal-Mart or Target won’t have anything in stock, which leaves the wide-world of the Internet.

Luckily, Universal Studios have come out with licensed Universal Monsters party supplies that you can find on various websites all year around. Most of the supplies have “Happy Halloween” written on them, but for horror lovers, Halloween lasts 365 days, so don’t be afraid to use the supplies for any occasion! And you better hurry, they’re getting harder and harder to find.

Balloons, paper plates, confetti, napkins – it’s all here, everything you need to begin your monster party.

Party Products is selling 18-inch Universal Monsters foil balloons for only $1.99 a piece. Each balloon features four of the main Universal Monsters – Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein’s monster, and The Mummy (clockwise).

With the same design as the balloons, 9-inch paper plates are for sale on sites, such as Buy Costumes. Each package is $1.69 and contains eight plates. On the same website, you can buy 7-inch dessert plates for $1.49 a package.

An extra addition to your table of fright is Universal Monsters confetti, which is offered on various sites, such as Amazon, for $2.65 a bag. Each bag includes confetti bats, spiders, and round paper images of Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein’s monster, and the mummy.

Matching invitations for these products are no longer available, but thanks to Hallmark, you can still buy Universal Monsters invitations featuring not four, but five of the monsters – Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, Frankenstein’s monster, and The Bride of Frankenstein. Each invitation is 3.9 inches by 8.8 inches, and $1.59 each.

To top it all off, buy green or orange napkins, cups, and silverware. If that’s too boring for you, you could never go wrong with napkins and cups featuring other Universal Horror themes, such as bats and spiderwebs.
